What is Philly Carnival?
The journey began in the late 1980s, when the Philly Carnival was part of the African American Day Parade. By the mid-1990s, it
blossomed into a standalone event, captivating thousands with its vibrant displays of culture and community spirit. It quickly became a calccherished celebration, marked by unforgettable moments and joyous gatherings.
The last official parade took place in 2019 before the pandemic forced a pause. That same year, UCAP stepped forward with a
commitment to revive the beloved tradition. True to its word, the Philly Carnival made a triumphant return in 2023, drawing over
5,000 attendees, featuring six lively bands, and hosting a diverse array of vendors. As a highlight of Caribbean Heritage Month, the
Philly Carnival is steadily reclaiming its place as a pinnacle of Caribbean celebration, bringing people together in the spirit of unity and festivity.
